Hi swimmers!
In this month's update...
1. Success at YMCA Nationals and Colonies Zones
Championships 2. Team picture and WBOC "spots" 3. Additional practice times 4. Summer schedule 5.
Team membership now open to Non-Y Members! 6. YMCA Annual Support donations 7. On the calendar...
1.
I want to send out congratulations to those who participated in the past month's "big" meets: Melissa Cullen and
Nancy Sterling. Melissa swam in her first Zones meet and came away with two best times, and placed 8th in the
50 Back, good enough to earn a point for the team! Nancy had a fantastic YMCA Nationals meet, besting her times in
each individual event as well as relay splits! Way to go Dogfish!
2. I am close to unveiling a new team
website, but I need your help! We need a good team picture, hopefully at a practice with strong turnout. So, let's
get a big turnout on Thursday this week, and I will take a few action shots as well as a group shot! In addition
to the exposure the website will provide, WBOC has asked to do two live spots about the team and the recent successes.
We are tentatively looking at one of the practices during the week of May 8...watch your email for more information!
3.
I am pleased to announce that I have secured additional practice times on Tuesday and Thursday, at 7 am, after the regular
workout time. This practice will be geared toward shorter total distances and only last about 45 minutes.
Please come and try it out...especially if you have been putting it off for whatever reason...this is a great time to get
started!
4. Our summer schedule is soon upon us...beginning as soon as the outdoor pool is open, we'll move
all our "early" practices outside to where we'll get six lanes. 7 am workouts will be either inside or moved earlier
and practice with the whole team. It will be great to get some fresh air while getting some solid workouts in!
5.
I am pleased to announce that, at least for the summer session, YMCA membership is NOT required to swim with the team.
Prices are still to be determined so please let me know if you or anyone you know may be interested. I think this
will be a great way to grow the team.
6. I would like to make a donation from the Masters Swim Team to the YMCA for
their Annual Support funding drive. I know that you all have lots of other things going on, but just a few dollars
would be a great way to not only continue our program, but help the Y grow in years to come. If you can help out,
it is much appreciated!
7. Coming up in the next couple of months...
USMS Nationals, May 19-22, Ft. Lauderdale Columbia
Triathlon, May 22, Columbia, MD Pocomoke Triathlon, June 4, Pocomoke YMCA Eagleman Triathlon, June 12, Cambridge, MD Terrapin
Cup, Long Course Swim Meet, June 19, College Park, MD
See you wet!
